As the new year goes on there are many challenges helping people take control of weight goals. There are many weight loss challenges out there among co-workers, friends, and family to keep the challenge competitive yet supportive. The water challenge has always been one that many take part in vowing to tackle one gallon of water everyday. Sounds pretty simple right? One gallon of a water everyday, no big deal. For some, this is easier said than done, The Water Challenge has raised a couple of questions for those that are new to the daily gallon. Questions surrounding bathroom frequency, and over hydration to name a few. Drinking a gallon of water everyday does make you frequent the bathroom quite often but committing to one gallon of water daily provides many “pros” that outweigh the “cons”.
Glowing Skin
Our skin is the largest organ on our body. Our skin requires water to function properly. Our bodies are made up of 60% of water, hydration is essential to glowing, wrinkle free, and supple skin. Not drinking enough water will cause dehydration to the skin becoming tight, dry, and flaky.

Toxic Flush Out
Water intake helps the body perform a natural detox through urination and sweat. Inadequate water intake will cause kidneys to overwork in trying to flush out toxins from the body. Drinking a gallon water daily ensures that water will effortlessly carry nutrients to our cells, flush out waste, and aid in digestion.

Brain Power
Yes! Water can improve our brain function. Drinking water on a daily basis can improve abilities like thinking and concentration, as well boosting energy levels! Our brains are made up of 73% water so it’s no secret that “feeding” our brain water would provide the brain and body a significant boost!

Weight Loss & Regulation
Of course there would be no Water Challenge around the fitness topic unless it actually helped in losing weight. Drinking a gallon of water a day provides a natural suppressant to “trick” the body in feeling fuller longer ultimately reducing the amount a person’s food consumption. Although water does maintain the “full feeling” it also helps in digesting and breaking food down in a manner that the body can fully absorb all nutrients preventing constipation.

Increasing daily water intake, especially a gallon a day, provides plentiful benefits. Are you up for the challenge?
