Finding Purpose In Your Pain

“Sometimes we must be hurt in order to grow. Sometimes we must fail in order to know. Sometimes we must lose in order to gain. Because some lessons in life are best learned through pain.”

It’s no secret that life is full of peaks and valleys. Making the decision to appreciate or comprehend the valleys as much as the peaks can seem impossible at times. When we experience painful situations whether dealing with the loss of a loved one, heartbreak, disappointment, etc. it almost feels like its the end of the world. Looking for the positive in life’s valleys while going through the valley is something most can say is not easily done. But, what if I told you that your pain all intertwined with your purpose? What if you did not experience the pain you would never reach your full potential?

I remember going through a heartbreak that literally left me debilitated. I checked into Heartbreak Hotel and had no clue as to when I was checking out or if I would just die there. I can remember asking God WHY did he allow me to get so attached, so dependent, be so loving to someone He knew was going to leave me so broken. God has a funny way of breaking you ALL THE WAY DOWN just to build you back up more solid than you could ever imagine. He will use who he has to in order to gain your attention. He spent the next two years repairing and mending the pieces of my heart that was scattered across the floor. It was in this time that I decided if and when I ever dated again that I knew EXACTLY what I was willing to compromise on and what I was absolutely NOT willing to compromise on. I made the decision that seeing that “potential factor” in someone was just not going to cut it anymore and I would not hang around for someone who I saw potential in that they couldn’t see in themselves ever again. Through my pain I learned how to say no, I learned what I truly wanted in a partner, what I needed out of a partner, and how I wanted to be treated. I learned SELF VALIDATION. Without the pain I would have settled for someone who wasn’t meant for me and I would have settled for being treated less than trying to hold on to the potential of what it could and should be. God allowed the pain to almost destroy me just so that it could force me to level up! Fulfilling the purpose of wife came at a cost but it was a cost God knew was not too high for me to pay. Wont He do it?

When I think about finding purpose in your pain another example comes to mind which is a song called Greater Is Coming by Jekalyn Carr. In the song she gives you an example of the process of an olive being shook, beat, and pressed to present the very best type of olive oil. When you get a second definitely listen to this song. The olive reference is such a great example of our lives. You have to go through a process and sometimes that process involves many steps to produce the very best. Put this in prospective of finding purpose in your pain. You have to go through so many levels to reach the highest fulfillment of purpose and destiny. Going through the process is painful, it’s discouraging, but it’s necessary! If we live a life of comfort nothing will get better, it would only stay neutralized. It is in the discomfort that we have no choice but to grow into a better person and walk into another level of our lives. If you never go through anything you can never GROW through anything.

Find comfort in knowing on the other side of pain is purpose, on the other side of heartbreak is joy, on the other side of disappointment is mind blowing achievements. If you have the strength to endure the process you will find your purpose! TRUST YOUR PROCESS!
